Medical and Health Research Association of New York City, Inc. (MHRA) is a non-profit public health organization that has been committed to improving the health and well-being of New Yorkers for nearly 50 years. MHRA manages numerous programs that weave a safety net for low-income individuals and their families. WIC is a special supplemental food program for low-income women, infants and young children, that offers nutritious foods, nutrition education and counseling, and referrals to health care and social services. The MHRA Neighborhood WIC Program is the largest in New York State, providing diet evaluation, nutritional counseling, immunization screening and referrals, breast feeding promotion and support, referrals to social services, and food vouchers to some 45,000 individuals at 15 sites throughout New York City.
